HAIR CARE AND COOLING CAP APPLICATION
During chemotherapy with simultaneous use of cold caps, hair can become dry and prone to matting. Therefore, it is particularly important to take good care of your hair during this time! No chemicals, no hair dye, no hair dryer, no curling or straightening irons. Use shampoo without phosphates and with a pH value as close as possible to that of the skin. For use during your chemotherapy with cold caps, we recommend these products.
GENTLE HAIR CARE
Be careful with your hair when sleeping! Get silk pillowcases, whose smooth surface protects your hair from wear and tear. This 100% silk pillowcase is a really good choice. In the first 3 days after each chemo, your scalp and hair need complete rest. Throughout the entire period, you should wash your hair a maximum of 1-2 times a week.
HAIR LOSS
During cold capping, most people will experience significantly more hair loss than normal. Hair loss depends on the type of chemo and its sequence. For some, hair loss begins as early as 2–3 weeks after starting chemotherapy, for others it takes 5–6 weeks. With a successful course of treatment, you can expect to lose 10% to 50% of your hair, but evenly distributed. Normally, we lose 100–200 hairs daily, which few people think about. This is completely different during a cold capping procedure, where everything revolves around the hair. You may want to take a daily or weekly photo of your hair to monitor the process. Your parting may look a little wider and your hair may feel different, but those around you will usually not notice any difference. Approximately 4–6 weeks after starting chemotherapy, it can be assessed whether the cold caps are having the desired effect. If the quantity and appearance of the hair are satisfactory at this point, the cold caps will continue to be used for the remainder of the chemotherapy course.
It is not possible to predict for whom the cold cap method will work. The type of chemotherapy, pre-existing conditions, hair structure, and age are some of the factors that can have an influence. According to international randomized studies, the method works for over 80% of patients, and after 4–6 weeks of use, you will know if it works for you.

"I am so glad and grateful that I still have so much hair after 16 chemo treatments. If I had gone bald, it would have taken 8–10 years for it to grow back to the same length."
