HOW CHILL CAPS WORK

The function of the cooling caps is to cool the scalp to approximately minus 16-21 degrees Celsius before, during, and after chemotherapy treatment. This reduces blood flow to about 20% of normal, while the metabolism of the hair follicle cells is similarly reduced. This means that the amount of chemotherapy drugs reaching the hair follicle cells is minimized. Thus, the hair has a great chance of being preserved!
